How to Use the Chamelio Teams Integration
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Introduction
The Chamelio Teams integration lets your organization interact with Chamelio directly inside Microsoft Teams. It supports two distinct modes of use: one that's available to any user you designate — including viewers such as sales, procurement, or finance — for initiating flows, and a second, more open-ended mode reserved for agent users (typically the legal team) to start agent conversations. This article walks through both modes and how each one works in practice.
Initiating Flows
Any user with access can kick off a flow directly from Teams. There are two ways to do this, and which one applies depends on how the flow was built: when configuring a flow's Intake step in Chamelio, the flow's creator sets the Teams intake to accept either a channel mention or a form submission.
With mentioning Chamelio in a message, a user tags Chamelio within a dedicated channel — for example, asking whether an agreement exists with a given counterparty. Chamelio reads the tagged message and replies in the thread within moments, optionally including a summary and links to the relevant documents. This approach works well for Q&A-style flows, such as letting a sales team ask about contract terms or company policies.
With submitting a form, the user clicks the + icon in Teams to open the app picker, selects Chamelio, and chooses from the available forms (for example, an NDA generation request). After completing the required fields — such as effective date and counterparty name — and submitting, the request appears as a task in the Chamelio interface. Some requests may include an approval step, such as granting Chamelio permission to upload the resulting file to OneDrive, before the user can access the output.
Agent Conversations
Agent conversations are reserved for agent users — generally the legal team — and allow a more open, direct exchange with Chamelio's AI agent from within Teams. A user can mention Chamelio inside an existing thread so it reads the surrounding context and responds with a summary, or start a private, standalone session to ask the agent a question and receive results directly.
Tips for Using the Integration
Use channel mentions and forms interchangeably depending on the interaction style you want: mentions suit quick, contextual questions, while forms suit structured requests with defined fields. Reserve agent conversations for users who need broader, unstructured access to Chamelio's reasoning rather than a fixed flow output. Building the underlying flows themselves — including configuring the Teams intake — is covered separately in the flow-building guide.
