Google Drive and SharePoint Integrations

Overview

Chamelio supports direct integrations with Google Drive and Microsoft SharePoint to simplify importing documents into your workspace.

These integrations allow users to securely browse and select files from their organization’s Google Drive or SharePoint accounts using a native file picker, and upload them directly into Chamelio.

The integration is designed for document ingestion only. Chamelio does not continuously sync, mirror, or monitor files after they are uploaded.

What the Integration Enables

When the Google Drive or SharePoint integration is enabled:

• Users can open a file picker directly from Chamelio
• Files can be selected from Google Drive or SharePoint without downloading them locally
• Selected files are uploaded into Chamelio as standalone documents
• The upload experience is faster and more convenient, especially for large repositories

Once uploaded, documents are managed entirely within Chamelio.

What the Integration Does Not Do

For clarity, this integration does not:

• Sync files between Chamelio and Google Drive or SharePoint
• Reflect future changes made in Drive or SharePoint
• Push edits or metadata back to the source system
• Monitor folders or automatically import new files

Any updates, versions, or changes after upload must be handled within Chamelio.

Supported Sources

Chamelio currently supports file selection from:

• Google Drive
• Microsoft SharePoint

Access is governed by the user’s existing permissions in the source system. Chamelio can only see and access files that the authenticated user is authorized to access.

Security and Access Model

The integration follows a user-initiated, permission-based access model.

• Users authenticate with Google or Microsoft when opening the file picker
• Chamelio only receives access to files explicitly selected by the user
• No background access to drives, folders, or libraries is maintained
• Files are stored and processed according to Chamelio’s standard security controls once uploaded

Chamelio does not retain long-term access tokens for browsing customer file systems outside the active upload flow.

Enabling the Integration

The integration can be enabled directly from the Chamelio application.

Steps:

1. Go to Settings

2. Navigate to Integrations

3. Enable Google Drive and or SharePoint

4. Authenticate with your Google or Microsoft account when prompted

Once enabled, the file picker option will be available anywhere document upload is supported in Chamelio.

User Permissions

• Any user with permission to upload documents in Chamelio can use the integration
• Access to specific files is determined entirely by the user’s permissions in Google Drive or SharePoint
• No additional admin approval is required beyond enabling the integration at the workspace level

Common Questions

Does Chamelio store a copy of my Drive or SharePoint files?

No. Only files explicitly selected and uploaded by a user are stored in Chamelio.

Are changes in Drive or SharePoint reflected automatically?

No. After upload, documents are independent from the source system.

Can entire folders be synced?

No. Files must be selected manually through the file picker.

Is this a two-way integration?

No. The integration is one-way, for importing documents into Chamelio only.
